In the summer of 2017, a number of excellent works composed by outstanding students were presented in 2017 Beijing International Composition Workshop. Among them, Heartbeat of the Earth I (composed by Chen Yusheng), Plung into the Sky (composed by Wen Ziyang) and Chi Mei Wang Liang (composed by Fu Wenjie) were selected by the well-renowned conductor Peter Burwik to be performed at the special concert of Ensemble XX Jahrhundert in the Austrian Modern Music Festival.

The theme of this concert is called "The Prospect of Colored Desert." The concert of Ensemble XX Jahrhundert was conducted by Professor Peter Burwik and held at famous ORF Funkhaus on September 12, 2017.

It is worth mentioning that the concert was recorded from the beginning to the end by the team of ORF-RadioKulturhaus which is also the team of live broadcasting Vienna New Year's Concert every year.

Ensemble XX Jahrhundert

The soloist-ensemble, founded by Peter Burwik in 1971, consists of members of leading Viennese orchestras and freelance instrumentalists. They guarantee the highest standards and the level of sound quality which is associated with 'Viennese musical culture' worldwide. Its aim ever since is to make music of the 20th century known and to support contemporary creative work. For that purpose, several domes-tic and foreign composers were and are commissioned. Another important aspect of its work is the examination of the oeuvres of Schonberg, Berg and Webern - thus, the repertoire ranges from the Viennese school and representatives of classical moderni-ty to significant exponents of innovative contemporary music. For example, artists, such as Steve Reich, Vinko Globokar, Morton Feldmann, Younghi Pagh-Paan or Eman-uel Nunes, were presented to the Viennese audience in portrait-concerts for the first time. Since its foundation the orchestra regularly appears on stages at home and abroad. Besides numerous appearances in Vienna (Wiener Konzerthaus, Musikver-ein, ORF, among others), the ensemble often performs in other Austrian regions as well (Steirischer Herbst, Carinthischer Sommer, Linzer Brucknerfest).

On tours to Azerbaijan, Belgium, Cuba, England, France, Germany, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, USA, Venezuela important current programs were performed. The ensemble has been the guest at numerous international festivals: the Salzburg Festival, the Wiener Festwochen, WIEN MODERN, the Edinburgh Festi-val, the Berliner Festspiele, the Hong Kong Arts Festival, the Huddersfield Festival, the Warsaw Autumn, Musica in Strasbourg, the Enescu Festival in Bucharest to name just a few and - not least - the Contemporary Music Days 2013 in Shanghai, were the ensemble presented four programs as ensemble in residence.

After the collaboration with Franz Koglmann in 2003, the ensemble increasingly at-tended to cross-border and cross-genre productions - such as the 'Alt Wiener Musik Projekt', which encouraged composers from diverse stylistic backgrounds to work with traditional folk music (available on CD) or the current 'Sensor - live electronic - dance - project', which was presented with it's "Multi Sensor Tracking for Live Sound Transformation" currently being held in Seoul (May 2013).

In the program of this concert, there were also other well-renowned composers' works, such as Werke von Vladimir Tarnopolski (Moskau), Jia Daqun (Schanghai / Peking), etc..
